Construction at GO stations and terminals

We use this space to give you basic information about construction or renovation projects that may be affecting your station or parking lot. This information is as current as possible.

Here is the information we have to report at this time:

Agincourt GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: April 8, 2014. An area adjacent to the station building will be closed to allow for the installation of a new second-generation Ticket Vending Machine. For technical reasons, the existing TVM will be out of service during this time. Construction activities will be conducted during off-peak hours: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please exercise caution around the construction area.
 
Ajax GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: Mid-2014. This project involves the rehabilitation of the east part of the platform, including the installation of a snow-melting system.

Customer Impact: The east part of the platform, along with the east tunnel, is closed for rehabilitation and the west section of the platform remains open. Customers may use the new tunnel located behind the parking structure to access the newly rehabilitated section of the platform. See below for train boarding information.

COMPLETION DATE: Spring 2014. This project involves the repair of a broken water main.

Customer Impact: The south-west section of the main parking lot, and the west end of Fairall Street, is closed in order to make repairs to broken water main caused by extreme cold temperatures. The repair is more complex than originally expected and will be completed in the spring. The parking lot, the Kiss & Ride, and the parking structure are still open; however, please use caution around the fenced off construction area.
 
Appleby GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: Spring 2014. Phase one of this project involves the expansion and interior renovation of the station building; including new washrooms and a new waiting area. Phase two involves the installation of a new elevator in the east tunnel which has been delayed due to the earlier elevator strike.
 
Bloor GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: early 2015. Construction will begin on the east half of the north platform the afternoon of April 11th. Two new access ways have been opened on either side of Earnest Ave. that will provide access to the platforms from the West Toronto Railpath.

Customer Impacts: During construction trains will stop further west of the platform and there will be no access to the 5 west end coaches on the train. Passengers will only be able to board and exit the train through the 5 east end coaches, the first 5 coaches behind the engine.
 
Burlington GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: June 2014. Improvements are being made to the station building and south parking lot to make it a more modern link to safe, comfortable and convenient public transportation.

Customer Impacts: Until June 2014. Ticket windows and passenger washrooms in the station building will be closed. Both will be relocated to the north side of station in front of the parking structure. Tickets will be sold from a temporary trailer. The bus loop and the west tunnel will be closed from the south side. East tunnel will provide access to the platforms and north side of the station. Elevators on the south side will be out of service. Elevator access will be from the north side of the station only.
Starting June 14, in order to construct a sheltered pedestrian walkway, a section of the north end of the parking lot closest to the station building will be closed off; the motorcycle parking spaces will be placed out of service; and the barrier-free spaces will be relocated to the area of the parking lot just south of the kiss & ride.
 
Clarkson GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: Spring 2014. Construction of a new 1200 space multi-level parking structure with elevators, enclosed walkways, waiting areas to tunnels

Customer Impact: The northwest section of the south lot to be closed. Reserved spots from this area will be relocated to the north and south east sections of the south side lot and some temporary parking will be available at 2120 Bromsgrove Road but spots will be limited.

From Monday, March 24 to Friday, April 04, 2014: Customers using the south-west access road will only be able to travel into the station. Customers can exit using centre or east roads. Water main installation and testing will be underway on the south-west entrance. Two parking spaces will be closed during this time.

From Saturday, April 05 to Sunday, April 06, 2014: The south-west access road will be closed to complete the work.

This work is required to deliver the multi-level parking structure that will provide 1,500 parking spaces. We expect the structure to open in spring 2014. This project is just one example of how we are transforming transit.
 
Danforth GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: April, 2014. This project involves the rehabilitation of staircase connected to the walkway south of the tracks.

Customer Impact: The south staircase is closed. Elevators will be the only access to the tunnel from the south walkway. Passengers may also use Main Street to cross to the south side of the tracks.
 
Etobicoke North GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: Spring 2015. We are moving into the next phase of construction at Etobicoke North GO Station: improving the station as part of The Big Move initiative to create a more modern and customer friendly facility.

Our work will be in the north parking lot, which will remained closed. Parking and the Kiss & Ride continue to be offered in the lot off of Belfield Rd., just south of the station.

Kitchener GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: May 2014. This project involves the Region of Waterloo road construction near the station building.

Customer Impact: During construction the doors to the two most west end train cars will be closed and passengers will be required to use the eight east end coaches located immediately behind the locomotive.
 
Markham GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: Summer 2014. This project involves the construction of a six-car platform between the tracks and the west parking lot; improvements to the pedestrian access between the new platform and Station Street and Main Street; and upgrades to the west parking lot lighting.

Customer Impact: Minimal, at times a few parking spaces will have to be closed.
 
Milliken GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: April 14, 2014. An area adjacent to the station building will be closed to allow for the installation of a new second-generation Ticket Vending Machine. Among a number of new improvements, this new TVM has features specifically designed for customers with accessibility needs. Construction activities will be conducted during off-peak hours: 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please exercise caution around the construction area.
 
Mimico GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: April 2014. This project involves the extension of the north station platform to accommodate 12 car trains.

Customer Impact: The north side of the south platform will be closed and trains will serve the south side of the south platform only. Some reserved parking spots will also be temporarily relocated until further notice.
 
Newmarket GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: Mid-2015. This project will be completed in three phases and involves the extension of the north end of the existing platform to accommodate Davis Drive widening. Improvements will include lighting, PA and CCTV coverage along the platform extension, increased platform access, rehabilitated parking lot, new ticket booth and a waiting area with improved accessibility.

Customer Impact: During the first phase the north half of the platform will be closed and only the five south coaches will open their doors. Customers will have to board the south half of the train. Please listen to onboard announcements for details.
 
Oshawa GO Station
 
Reduced weekend train service between Whitby & Oshawa GO Stations
Effective April 11-13 & 25-27, 2014
In order to make improvements to the train tracks to enhance pedestrian and vehicle safety in the area, we will be reducing weekend train service between Whitby & Oshawa GO Stations. See the Schedules Changes page for details.
 
Pickering GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: Spring/Summer 2014. The south parking structure is now open offering 1,200 new parking spaces. While most of level 1 of the structure is designated for reserved parking customers, the top 4 levels are open to all customers. Work will continue on the link to the Hwy. 401 pedestrian bridge, covered accessible parking area, landscaping and promenade on the south side of the structure. Additionally, a small section of near the south elevator will close in order to connect the pedestrian walkway to the new parking structure.

COMPLETION DATE: Summer 2015. The Hwy. 401 bridge will narrow over the platform to allow for construction of the platform-level elevators.
 
Streetsville GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: June 2014. This project involves the rehabilitation of the east parking lot.
 
Union Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: 2016. There are a number of exciting and ongoing construction projects at Union Station that may result in changes to your boarding patterns. We recommend passengers give themselves additional travel time to purchase their tickets and board train and bus services. For information on the construction projects in and around Union Station, please visit the Union Station Revitalization website.

Customer Impacts: Vehicle access to Front Street is very limited. The configuration of Front Street changes often to accommodate construction phases. All pedestrians exiting the station to the north should follow wayfinding signage to Bay, York and Front Streets. Customers travelling by taxi may use Bremner Blvd to the south of the station. The construction at Union Station is expected to be substantially complete by summer 2015.
 
Weston GO Station
 
COMPLETION DATE: Mid 2015. Station will be relocated to the south side of Lawrence Ave. W. and will be under construction until mid-2015.

Customer Impact: The ticket sales trailer and washroom is temporarily relocated. It is located adjacent to Weston Park Baptist Church and accessible by pedestrian walkway. The Presto balance checker adjacent is adjacent to the trailer. The expanded parking lot is fenced off and portions of this lot are available as construction continues. The completed project will result in an improved Weston GO Station.

COMPLETION DATE: mid-April 2014. We are continuing to improve the Weston station to create a more comfortable link to the new Union Pearson Express. To allow this work to continue, six parking spaces in the west parking lot will be closed on April 9th. We anticipate the work to be done in approximately one week.. Customer Impact: Additional parking spots are available in the parking lot next to the Weston Baptist Church.
